A good ETF selection isn’t a tip. It’s a process you can defend six months later when the market has moved and someone asks why this one.
Screen, score, monitor
- Screen the universe on the constraints that actually bind: domicile and tax treatment, replication method, liquidity, total cost of ownership beyond the headline TER.
- Score survivors on factor exposure, tracking quality, and fit to the thesis you’re expressing — not generic “5-star” ratings.
- Monitor the winners with agents that watch for drift: flows, spread widening, index changes, anything that breaks the original case.
The independence test
We have no products to sell and take no commissions. That’s not a tagline — it’s what lets the methodology stay honest. The output is research you own and can re-run, not a recommendation you have to take on trust.
Datamatters provides research and consulting services. Nothing here is investment advice or a solicitation to buy or sell securities.
